Legitdaily is a daily true-or-fake news quiz. There is no account, no name, no email and no phone number. Here is exactly what happens with your data.
Who is responsible
Legitdaily is published by Gaspard, an individual (see the Legal notice). Contact for any question about your data: contact.legitdaily@proton.me.
What stays in your browser
Your results, your streak, your progress and your settings (dark mode, sounds) are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only. A new browser or device starts from scratch. You can erase all of it at any time with “Delete my data” in Settings.
What is sent to our server
- A random technical identifier, created automatically the first time you play. It is not linked to your name or to anything about you.
- Your points for each quiz you finish, and whether each of your answers was right or wrong.
- If you play a duel: the duel code and your result for that duel.
- If you play with friends in a lobby: the lobby code, the temporary nickname you may choose (optional, shown only to the other players of that lobby), and your answers and points in that game.
This is used only to build the anonymous daily ranking, to show how other players answered each headline, and to run duels and lobbies. Nobody sees names in the ranking: only points.
What we never do
- No advertising, no trackers, no analytics, no cookies.
- No selling or sharing of data.
- No sign-up, no location, no contacts, no microphone or camera.
Services we rely on
- Supabase stores the anonymous scores and answers described above, on servers in the European Union (Ireland).
- Netlify hosts the website. Like any host, it may keep technical logs (such as IP addresses) for a short time for security.
- jsDelivr serves a code library the site needs, which means your browser contacts it when the page loads.
Keeping and deleting
Deleting your data in Settings erases everything stored in your browser. Scores already sent are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you, so they remain in the daily ranking statistics. If you want your anonymous record removed from our server, contact us with the day you played and we will do our best to find and delete it.
How long we keep it
Anonymous scores and answers are kept for up to 24 months after the day they were played, then deleted. Lobby data (codes, temporary nicknames, answers) is only needed for the game and is deleted after 90 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see or delete the anonymous record linked to your browser, or object to its use. Write to contact.legitdaily@proton.me and tell us the day you played, so we can find it. If you think your rights are not respected, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Children
Legitdaily collects no personal data and has no sign-up. It is a general-audience quiz and is not designed for children under 15. If you are under 15, please play with a parent's agreement.
About the headlines
Each quiz mixes real news (with a link to the source) and invented or partly altered headlines, made on purpose for the game. After each answer we tell you which is which. Please do not share the fake ones as real news.
Changes
If this page changes in a meaningful way, the date at the top will change too.
