When life gets busy, the last place you want to spend your precious time is in crowded aisles, scouring through groceries and waiting in checkout lines.
Why go through the hassle when, with a few taps on your phone, you can have everything delivered to your doorstep?
Online shopping will save you lots of time and money in several ways.
1. No Queues
Queues in stores aren’t our favorite idea of pastime. They are long and slow, and they keep us waiting.
The cashier seems to be working in slow motion, people’s carts are full (you only have two items), and because not everyone has proper queuing etiquette, the guy behind you has their face on your ear, trying to snoop your phone.
The POS system malfunctions holding up the queue, and there’s always someone who waits until their items are scanned only to start searching for their wallet.
None of this happens when you shop online.
2. Saves Lots of Time

Shopping in a supermarket, especially one you are not used to, feels like solving a maze. Sugar is in aisle four, cooking oil is at the far end, and ketchup is upstairs.
All the attendants are busy, so no one can help you. And it’s only after arriving home that you realize you’ve forgotten the most important item.
With online shopping, you are seated at home with the entire store on your screen. Multiple options are available, and you can pick and drop items however you want.
3. Curbs Impulse Buying
Shopping from home saves you from all the impulse buying. It’s good for your wallet and your waistline, too.
There are no aisles with enticing displays and strategically placed snacks. No candies near the checkout counter that tempt you to grab a couple on your way out.
The lack of marketing gimmicks and colorful displays in online shopping allows you to stick to your list.
4. E-Calculator
Still on keeping your finances in check, you don’t need your phone’s calculator app on standby when shopping online. The app automatically calculates the total whenever you add an item to the cart.
This makes it easier to see how much you spend as you go. It may not seem like much, but this could make a big difference when you are on a strict budget or comparing prices across stores.
5. No Embarrassments
There is a strange combination of items in your cart that will immediately get you side eyes from the cashier and shoppers.
A squatty potty screams you are having problems going for number two, a packet of condoms implies you are getting lucky tonight, while ladies’ products announce it’s that time of the month.
No one knows what the guy with the enema, rubbing alcohol, and two packs of cigarettes is going home to do.
You could either go through all this or wait at home for a stranger to deliver them.
The freedom to shop discreetly without being scrutinized by strangers is a luxury we didn’t know we needed.
6. More Buying Options
When purchasing online, you have access to a much wider range of sellers and retailers. You can also compare prices and alternative products.
I love that I can see product ratings and reviews to make a more informed purchasing decision. I’m no cheapskate, but it’s a no-brainer that I’m going for the cheaper option.
7. Items for Later
You can hit pause whenever you are shopping and return to it later. Awesome, right? Even better, most shopping apps will allow you to re-order the same items you did before.
So, instead of picking the same items repeatedly, you simply tap a button, and you’re good to go.
8. Online Deals

Everyone loves a good deal. Only that it’s difficult to get them when you purchase in-store. The internet is full of deals, if you know where to look.
Most apps will notify you periodically of available offers and discounts. Coupon codes are also an excellent way of saving a few pennies.
Order Online!
As someone who abhors physical shopping, online shopping is a lifesaver. My shopping app is one of those apps, like Gmail, that I take for granted but cannot do without.
I no longer have to wait in line, I can buy bed bug spray without having to look over my shoulder, and I’m always within budget. Talk of killing three birds with one app.
Shop online and save yourself time and money.
